C is for Cupcakes

This week we looked at the letter C and the sound it makes. The children had great fun learning the Jolly Phonics Castanets song and dancing to the beat but most of all they enjoyed decorating cupcakes with Mrs van der Merwe and Mrs van Zyl the most.

What have we done the first couple of weeks?

The first few days were spent getting to know our class and our new friends. Waisea and Horatio become great friends and the had great fun practising their balance.

Salihah and Suhaylah enjoyed making a Necklace with the beads.

The thing that the children enjoyed the most the first few weeks was the computers in our room. At first some of them found the mouse a bit tricky but now it is second nature to them. We use the website Starfall in our room and the children love learning the letters and their sounds. (www.starfall.com)

Harry was our computer man for the first week he loved to help his friends when they ran into trouble but even he had to relax and have a play every now and again.

Well I am please to report that all the students in Room 10 are settled and eager to learn. They are like little sponges soaking up new information everyday.

A little about everything in Room 10

Kia Ora    Talofa Lava   Hallo
Malo e lelei  Namaste

Hallo and Welcome to the Room 10 blog!

The Room 10 students and myself will be using this space to tell you what is happening in our room. The first couple of days we will spent
getting to know one another and the school environment.

Brain food: The children at Reremoana school have brain food everyday
around 10:00. We ask parents to please provide their child with a
healthy snack to eat during brain food. Fruit, nuts, popcorn... are just some of the healthy options.

Homefun: Homefun books will be kept in their book bag and taken home when they have  homefun to complete. Homefun sheets will be given out on Monday of every week. Their will be a few short activities for them to do. Spend about 10 minutes a day going through it.

Lunch Orders: Will start on Tuesday week 2 of Term 1. Place money in a named envelope with order written on the front. A special basket is next to the math trolley for orders to be placed in.

Sun safety: Please make sure your child brings their hat everyday. Sunblock is available in the class and I will be encouraging the children to
put some on when going outside.
